1. Power of Meditation
Hope and Scope
HOPE AND SCOPE Meditation has the power to transform you physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Let me explain what I mean by health in these three areas. 1. Physical health means digesting whatever you eat and having that food become part of your body. 2. Mental health means digesting all the ideas and problems that you encounter and forming a clear solution. It is living without conflict. 3. Spiritual health means receiving all the great teachings and energy, digesting them and living a liberated life. -Having all three is total health. From the time immemorial human beings were doing research in the inner world and the outer world. Research and development in the outer world is outer science, continuously they are expanding their boundaries acquiring more and more comforts and developing lifestyle. Same way a group of inner world scientists (enlightened beings) started doing research in the inner world developing meditation techniques, methods and sutras (formulae) to achieve the eternal bliss, Nithyananda (Nithya - eternal , bliss - ananda) "Scientist creates formula to reproduce the understanding and truths of outer world, Enlightened masters (Paramahamsa) creates meditation techniques to reproduce the same understanding, same experience, same enlightenment, same bliss which happened in them" Any technique, any method designed by them which raises your consciousness is meditation. If meditation has a role in direct progress of man's spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, social and economic planes then only that is spirituality Science is just now getting glimpses of the tremendous power of meditation to completely change the entire body-mind structure itself. Meditation gives a great hope and scope for better humanity to live its all dimensions. PARAMAHAMSA NITHYANANDA
What Is Bliss?
A small story: A small story: One evening, a man was searching hard for something in the courtyard in his house. His wife asked him what it was. He replied that he had dropped a gold coin. His wife also joined in the search. Soon, others gathered and practically the whole neighborhood was searching for the lost coin. Suddenly one neighbor asked the man, 'Where exactly did you drop the coin? How come we still haven't found it?' The man replied, 'Oh, I lost the coin inside the house.' Everybody searching became angry and asked him, 'Then why are we searching here?' The man replied, 'The problem is I have no lights inside my house. So I started searching by the light of this streetlamp here!' This is exactly what we do in our own lives. We are all experts in searching for answers in the wrong places. We search for bliss everywhere, in money, power, relationships, ideologies, but we don't move in the one obvious direction - inwards. What is bliss? What is bliss? In life everyone has experienced some moments of great happiness. But it has always been for a reason. It is a nice feeling but it has two disturbing qualities: the feeling doesn't last and it is the result of some cause or reason. You are happy because you got a promotion; you are happy because you were cured of some disease; you are happy because you bought a new car. The state of that happiness does not seem to remain forever. It is there temporarily, and when it changes or goes away, once again you feel pain. Only the happiness you experience for no reason at all which does not die for any reason, is real and permanent happiness. This is what is called bliss. Such happiness doesn't depend on anything outside of you. The word 'ananda' itself means, 'that which cannot be reduced, which cannot be lost'. Ananda does not translate into 'happiness'. You will be surprised to know, it simply means 'that which cannot be reduced or lost'. Bliss is that thing which does not reduce for any reason. The Panchadasi1 says (11.13): 'All beings are born of bliss and live by it, pass on to It and are finally re-absorbed in it. Therefore there is no doubt that Brahman is Bliss' Assignment 1 Self work out For any one who wants a single solution for all of his problems is attaining bliss. That could be the first and last solution. Everyone has experienced some moments of great happiness. Go back to your life, where great explotion of happiness has happened.Pendown those moments. 1 The Pancadasi is a post-Sankara Advaita Vedanta classic within the Vedanta literature, a fourteenth-century Advaita classic by Vidyaranya Swami, on the metaphysics of Vedanta Meditate on Ananda does not translate into 'happiness'. You will be surprised to know, it simply means 'that which cannot be reduced or lost'. Bliss is that thing which does not reduce for any reason. Mediate few min on your very understanding about the word Ananda. Truth 1:Each of us is searching for bliss, but we search in many different ways. However intellectual, however sophisticated may be the ways in which we express it, we are all seeking only bliss Truth 2:Ninety-nine percent of us are not even aware that bliss is our true goal! We search everywhere in the outside world,0.00000001% we may or may not look in for bliss. Truth3:Hard truth is bliss which is there within us, just waiting to be discovered. Genesis of Meditation "From the time immemorial human beings were doing research in the inner world and the outer world. Research and development in the outer world is outer science, continuously they are expanding their boundaries acquiring more and more comforts and developing lifestyle." Genesis of Meditation Same way a group of inner world scientists (enlightened beings) started doing research in the inner world developing meditation techniques, methods and sutras (formulae) to achieve the eternal bliss, Nithyananda (Nithya - eternal , bliss - ananda)" Genesis of Meditation The picture is a depiction of the primordial mode of dissemination of wisdom of Light which happened in Vedic Bharat, the Land which is the beacon of spiritual light in the world, through the Guru-shishya parampara, or Guru-disciple tradition. Genesis of Meditation The initial revelation of pure knowledge happened in the consciousness of Rishis, the scientists and knowers of inner consciousness, through a means called Shruti, or the spontaneous expression of language and divine formulae and techniques for the transmission of them in the minds of those sages. These spontaneous expressions of language and divine formulae and techniques which can transform the mind-body-being of any sincere seeker are called meditation; this is the genesis of meditation More recently, in this present Yuga, there has gradually been a descent of powerful energies on the planet which have appeared as a pure result of cosmic law becoming manifest as a force of change. Like the manifestation of Avatars. An Avatar is a phenomenon which happens as a result of cosmic impulse to restore pure memory and experience of divinity, a phenomenon which spreads like a fragrance that wafts across the air and awakens those in its path to a glimpse of reality. Presently there are such Avatars who walk amongst us on the planet, like Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Ramana Maharishi and Paramahamsa Nithyananda and many more hidden from our sights, like Mahavatar Babaji. With Avatars, and especially with the so-called Poorna Avatars, who descend into human consciousness out of pure compassion for humanity, there arises the ability to produce at will, through pure intent and superconscious transfer of energy, the same experience of truth and bliss in those who are receptive and ready to be transformed. "Scientist creates formula to reproduce the understanding and truths of outer world, Paramahamsa creates meditation techniques to reproduce the same understanding, same experience, same enlightenment, same bliss which happened in them" Learning and intelligence A Master is one who talks out of his experience of the ultimate truth. He talks with the ultimate authority because he has had the ultimate experience. We are all generally under the impression that only with age and experience, maturity happens and one can flower. Masters are living examples to show that you don't need time to mature and flower. Let me explain this further to you: When you were a child, you were very much attached to your toys, were you not? If someone took a toy away from you, how would you have reacted? You would have screamed and cried as if your whole life depended upon it, right? But now that you have grown up, if someone takes a toy away, does it matter to you? Will you feel upset? No! You are no longer attached

We can relate to the macrocosm, the Whole, the Divine, through any or all of these five elements. The microcosm can experience the macrocosm by relating with these five elements that pervade both. Relating to the macrocosm through the earth element is worshipping through idols or deities. Deities are made of the earth element, such as clay, brass, copper, etc. So worshipping through them is worshipping through the earth element. Relating through the water element is offering abhishekas, holy baths to deities, or bathing ourselves in holy rivers. Relating through the fire element is performing homas, fire rituals. Relating through the air element is chanting mantras, divine chants. Relating through the space element is meditation. Through these five ways, we can relate to the macrocosm. Out of the five elements, space is the only element that can reflect consciousness. The four grosser elements, earth, water, fire and air, cannot relate with or cannot reflect consciousness. And the way to relate with space energy is meditation. We can relate to the macrocosm, the Whole, the Divine, through any or all of these five elements. The microcosm can experience the macrocosm by relating with these five elements that pervade both. Pen down your earlier experiences with five elements in different stages of your life(This tells how much expanssion you have with life) Out of the five elements, space is the only element that can reflect consciousness. The four grosser elements, earth, water, fire and air, cannot relate with or cannot reflect consciousness. Only space can reflect consciousness. And the way to relate with space energy is meditation. Self work out When Man is at ease or is in tune with these 5 elements, he is all right. When he is not at ease with them, he is dis-eased. All the meditation techniques that Enlightened Masters have designed over the years are aimed at tuning man to these 5 elements.

Mind Your Mind
to practice the whole day or at any particular time. Just the very remembrance of these truths will put you in the elevated state. This is the third type of meditation. Examples of this are the beautiful Zen koans7. They are profound truths written in a concise way. Just the very remembrance of them will transport you to the zone of Truth! There is a very beautiful story in the Upanishad where a disciple comes to the master and asks for a technique or a method for enlightenment. The master just says, a Tat tvam asi, Tat tvam asi, Tat tvam asiaTM - a Thou art that, Thou art that, Thou art thataTM, a You are the Truth,aTM and the story says, the disciple became enlightened! It seems like a very strange story. The master just repeats a few words and the disciple is suddenly enlightened. How is it possible? It seems unbelievable! Actually it is not so. If we have done the first two types of techniques, the technique that needs to be done the whole day and the technique that needs to be done at a particular time, then the very maturity that happens out of that practice will cause you to experience the Truth the moment you hear it from the master! a The very maturity that happens out of the practice will cause you to experience the Truth the moment you hear it from the master!aTM Self work out There is a very beautiful story in the Upanishad where a disciple comes to the master and asks for a technique or a method for enlightenment. The first is bringing the truth or awareness into your life. This mediation is supposed to be done all twenty-four hours a day. It is not a part of your routine It should become the very quality of your routine. You may be doing anything like writing, reading, cooking, discussing, but this thread of meditation should be happening simultaneously, like an undercurrent. 7 Koans - Riddles given as techniques in Zen to aid Self Realization. Lesson-11 COMMON FEARS ABOUT MEDITATION Many people think meditation involves blindly believing in something. People fear this. They come and tell me, 'I am afraid that I might get too attached to meditation.' Understand, meditation itself is nothing but removing your attachment! So you can't get too attached to it. People are also afraid that their desires, fears and whatever else they think of as their life will be taken away from them if they start meditating. In a way this is true! Once you start meditating, whatever you thought of as your life until then, will no longer be important to you! The real truths will start revealing themselves to you. All the illusions you were holding until then will start leaving you. All the time you are trying to protect yourself from the basic truths only because you are afraid of losing your illusions about life. The concept or the idea that you are a solid being, which is the root cause of all your fears, will simply be shaken by meditation. All that you thought you were, all your desires, all your fears, all your worries will be shaken and you will start going through a big change. This is what is called the psychological revolution. You will have practically a new birth! It is like changing the inner software of your computer. Your hardware may be the same, but your inner software will go through a big change. Meditation is all about changing the inner software. Your body, your hardware, may be the same, your material surroundings may be same, the persons with whom you are living may be same, but your being will be totally different.
