Technique
-
- In Bhadrāsana. draw in the air through the mouth (with the lips contracted) and tongue thrown out
-
- After that very slowly, exhale through the nostrils.

- Repeat this Śitalī Kumbhaka 21 times.
Śāstra Pramāṇa - ृ्स पम्ग Darshanopanishad 6.25 - 26
कजहच् व्चुम्कृष चष नपबेूषसूून िरष । शमद्िनवनिमु््त चतग् ि्रतगू्नमच्ूष॥ २५ ॥ कजहच् व्चुम्कृष कजह्मनलेनिरतवचेूष। नपबेदमृूमतगन सकलन सुखम्पुच्ूष॥ २६ ॥
jihvayā vāyumākṛṣya yaḥ pibet satataṃ naraḥ | śramadāhavinirmukto yogī nīrogatāmiyāt ॥ 25 ॥ jihvayā vāyumākṛṣya jihvāmūle nirodhayet | pibedamṛtamavyagraṃ sakalaṃ sukhamāpnuyāt ॥ 26 ॥
Akashic Revelation
He who always drinks air by inhaling it through the tongue, that Yogin will attain immunity from disease, and of fatigue and thirst. He who should confine the air at the root of the tongue, after inhaling it by means of the tongue, will coolly drink the nectar of immortality and enjoy all happiness.

Śāstra Pramāṇa - ृ्स पम्ग Sandilyopanishad 6.13 - 3
वकेग स्त्रपनव्कन व्चनुगृि्त् चि्ृन् कुमनचत् ि्स्भ्न रेचचेूष। ूेि ्तु ृत्लतनिण् ि ज्चपे स्त्रप्ग्च्मम्ि- वकेगेनू ॥ १३-३ ॥
vaktreṇa sītkārapūrvakaṃ vāyuṃ gṛhītvā yathāśakti kumbhayitvā nāsābhyāṃ recayet | tena kṣuttṛṣṇālasyanidrā na jāyante sītkāraprāṇāyāmamāha- vaktreṇeti ॥ 13- 3 ॥
Akashic Revelation
Sucking the air through the mouth, with the Sitkara (hissing sound), holding it in Kumbhaka as long as possible, (the Yogin) should expel it through the nostrils. Therefore thirst, hunger and sleep through indolence, will not be produced. (13-3)
Step 6: Breathing Technique - Sitkari Prānāyāmā

Technique
-
- In Bhadrāsana. Press the lower and upper teeth together and separate the lips as much as comfortable.
-
- Breathe in slowly through the gaps of the teeth
-
- Hold as long as you can.
-
- Then exhale slowly through the nose.
-
- Repeat this Sitkari Prānāyāmā 21 times

Step 1: Posture - Bhishrikāsana Āpta Pramāṇa - आप पम्ग

Technique

- Sit on toes and place the buttocks on heels.

- Make a hollow of palms and place it on the mouth.
-
- Keep the thumbs under the teeth and close the lips.
-
- Fix the gaze steadily at the tip of the nose.
-
- Inhale through the right nostril, exhale through the mouth.
-
- Repeat this Kumbhaka 21 times.
Joga Pradipika, Verse 198
दतउ पग्ङ् एम् जतई गतम्फगषॐ व्गषॐ फुनि ितई || गतम् जङ अवर करर र्खेआमेव्ि इस् नवकव द्खे|| १९८ ||
dou pagāṅkī eḍī joī goḍāphaṇoṃ vāṇoṃ phuni hoī || goḍā jaṅgha adhara kari rākhe āḍevāha isī vidhi dākhe || 198 ||

Sitting on toes and placing buttocks on heels. Separate the knees sidewards and place on the ground. Make a hollow of palms and place it on mouth. Keep thumbs under teeth and close the lips fix the gaze steadily at the tip of nose. Inhale through pingala Nādi and exhale through mouth to the capacity.

- Remaining in Bhishrikāsana Visualize the right nostril breathing is going inside as "hām" sound. Left it is going down as "sām" sound.2

- Inhale with "hām" sound through right nostril.

- Visualize it is coming touching your heart and going out.

- Repeat this Kumbhaka 21 times. 3
