85. Nithvananda discharged from hospital

BANGALORE, PTI: Controversial self-styled godman Nithyananda, arrested on rape and other charges, was discharged from a hospital on Tuesday, a day after he was admitted following complaints of "severe chest pain."

Nityananda, who was taken to the government-run Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology last night, underwent a number of tests, including ECO and ECG, after he was admitted, Hospital Director Dr C Manjunath said.

"We decided to discharge him as the treadmill test which he underwent in the morning, showed normal results. We wanted to monitor his condition and then discharge him," he said. Nityananda has been in police custody since April 22, after he was arrested at Solan in Himachal Pradesh on April 21.

According to CID sleuths, the tainted spiritual leader of Nithyananda
