Nithya Kriya - Thyroid
About Thyroid
The thyroid gland secretes hormones which are essential to all metabolism and growth. For the most part thyroid disorders are treatable; however left untreated they can cause serious problems in other parts of the body. Present in most thyroid illnesses are these main 2 conditions, hypothyroidism (under activity) and hyperthyroidism (over activity). Signs and symptoms of under activity are weak heartbeat, constant fatigue, puffy skin/and or dry skin, slow mental process, constipation, sensitivity to cold and goiter.
Those of over activity are rapid forceful heartbeat, muscular weakness, weight loss, anxiety, restlessness and sleeplessness, profuse sweating, diarrhea, eye changes and goiter.Symptoms may not be easily recognized and it can be very slow to progress in the beginning stages. Subtle reactions in emotions and behaviours may be the only visible sign. Women are 4 - 7 times more likely to have thyroid disorders. Once diagnosed with a thyroid condition it is necessary to continue life-long monitoring even for those who believe they have been completely cured.
