About Excessive Sweating In The Palms And Feet

Hyperhidrosis is a condition where the body over produces the amount of perspiration that would normally be required for cooling itself. It can be either localized (primary hyperhidrosis); commonly of the hands, feet or armpits; or generalized (secondary hyperhidrosis); which involves the whole body and has an underlying condition. The psychological and social damage of excessive sweating often affects the quality of one's life. Side effects of hyperhidrosis include: interference in daily tasks, depression, low self confidence, avoidance of activities and frustration. The cause of this problem is unknown, however there is speculation that the sympathetic nervous system is involved, as excitement and nervousness exacerbate symptoms. Hyperhidrosis can exist at birth or start at adolescence (primary), or can be due to a thyroid disorder, diabetes, menopause or gout (secondary), starting at any point in an individual's life.
