Slander Is Poison

One of the highest spiritual virtues is: do not slander others.

If you slander someone who has not done any wrong to you, understand that you have a serious problem.

Many times, you make wrong decisions in your life, but don't want to take responsibility for it, so you start slandering others.

For example, your natural inclination in life is sannyas, monkhood, but for some reason, you take the decision to get married. Many of you have many patterns encouraging sannyas, but somehow, you also have one or two patterns which are not for sannyas. Because of those one or two patterns, you decide to get married. Naturally, after some time you feel suffocated with married life, and you start slandering your wife! That is not right.

You should be clear that you got married because of those one or two patterns, and not slander the other person. You should know that it is you who is responsible.

Many times, you slander out of jealousy.

Basically, humanity is unconscious, and it cannot tolerate happy people.

But one thing I want to tell you, once you slander happy people, you will never experience that quality in your life. Once you slander an enlightened being, you will never experience that quality in your life. The moment you slander, your unconscious records it, and you will never ever have that spiritual quality in your life. It is an end point of your spiritual growth.

That is why there is an important place in our tradition for this one spiritual value.

Fulfillment does not come by any outer world activity or comparing yourself to others. It comes when you have tremendous restful awareness. When you practice restful awareness, then naturally you attract all the people who want restful awareness and help raise them to that awareness.
