Chief administrator Sri Nithya Atmaprabhananda was at the gate when the assassins entered. Four of them knocked him to ground and jumped on him. Each one grabbed either one of his hand and a leg. The fifth person smashed a heavy stone on his head. His head broke with a 3-cm-deep cut, till his bone; blood streamed down his face and body profusely. The media sadistically streamed live the ghastly scene. The assassins even obstructed his ambulance, delaying the emergency medical attention.
He was rushed to the emergency ward of the hospital where he underwent a life-saving head surgery with 33 stitches administered. He was in the ICU (intensive care unit) and it took him a few months for a complete recovery. His wife and young son were completely devastated at the near-death survival.
Until his recovery, the regular administration work in the aadheenam was severely affected.
