Achamana is the ritualistic cleansing of the mouth.

Please take the akshata(turmeric mixed rice) in you right hand. Clench your hands as shown in the picture and tap the sides of your forehead (on the temples) five times visualizing that the nectar in the Sushumna nadi reaching the Mahaganapathy in the Mooladhara chakra and the nectar oozing through the head and drenching your hands along with the chanting the following mantra

Continue to keep the akshata in your right hand. Now open only the little finger, ring finger and the thumb (as shown in picture). During the Pranayama use the thumb to close the right nostril and the ring and little finger to close the left nostril.

1. Closing the right nostril inhale slowly through the left nostril

2. Once you have inhaled fully, close both the nostrils and hold the breath inside as long as possible

3. Exhale through the right nostril alone very slowly

What seat can I offer to the Master except my heart? I offer the gratitude flowing as nectar to wash His feet and to rinse His mouth. I offer my mind itself as the arghya - the bouquet.

To my Master who is the very Cosmos, what clothing can I offer except the space? I offer my very praana – life energy - as the incense and I offer the ocean of nectar as the food offering.

The principle of unstuck perennial sound is to be offered as the bell, the air as the chamara, the sahasraara as the umbrella, the principle of sound as the music, the actions of the senses and also the vagaries of the mind as the dance.

All the seven chakras along the Sushumna nadi is to be offered as a flower garland.

The different kinds of flowers with which the Sadguru should be worshipped are the guilelessness, freedom from the ego, freedom from suffering when your desires are not fulfilled, freedom from arrogance, freedom from ignorance, freedom from deceit, freedom from hatred, freedom from agitation, freedom from jealousy and greed and the Sadguru should also be worshipped with the flowers of non-violence, mastery over the senses, compassion, forgiveness and Enlightenment.

Guru is the Brahma who is the source of creation of the universe, Vishnu who is the source of sustenance of the universe, and Shiva who is the source of rejuvenation of the universe. Guru is all the three put together in a single form. I surrender to that Guru. I surrender to the Guru who is omnipresent and also has given me a glimpse of his experience. I surrender to the Guru who has with the brush of wisdom opened my eyes blinded by ignorance. I surrender to the Guru who by giving the knowledge about the Self, has burnt my Karmic baggage of so many births. I surrender to the Guru who is the Lord of the Cosmos, who is the Guru of the Cosmos; my soul is the same soul which is in all the beings. I surrender to Dakshinamurthy – the primal Guru – who manifests Himself differently in the form of Iswara, Guru and Atman or the self. • ⚫ Mix some sandalwood paste, a flower and some akshata in the water in the Panchapatram.

• ⚫ Close the mouth of the panchapatram with the center of your right hand and chant "OM" ` seven times .

• ⚫ Snap your index finger and thumb in all the eight directions around your head starting in the East through NorthEast and then below and above the Panchapatram chanting the mantra once: ` h> Aôay )qœ om haù asträya phaö [ This is called Samrakshanam]

• ⚫ Keeping your right hand in the Avakunthana mudra (as in the pic) rotate the index finger above the Panchapatram once in the clockwise direction chanting the mantra:` hE< kvcay ÷< om haià kavacäya huà [ Thi is called Avakunthanam]

• ⚫ Show the Dhenu mudra ( as in the pic) over the Panchapatram chanting the mantra : ` ha< izvay vaE;qœ om häà çiväya vauñaö and visualize the water in the Panchapatram as nectar [ This is called Amriteekaranam]

The water in this Panchapatram is now called Samanyarghya Tirtham. And the Panchapatram from now called Samanyarghya patram.

॥ आवाहनम् ॥ āvāhanam

Offer a flower on the Linga chanting the mantra:

om hāṁ śivāsanāya namaḥ

Now please take some flowers in your hands in Anjali mudra (ie hands in prayer position and flower in between the palms) and chant the following mantra:

ललाटे त्रिपुण्ड़ी निटिल-कृत कस्तूरी-तिलकः

स्फुरन्मालाधारः

द्धानो दुस्तारं शिरसि फणिराजं शशिराजं शशिकलां

प्रदीपः सर्वेषाम् अरुणगिरियोगी विजयते ॥

lalāte tripundrī nițila-krta kastūrī-tilakah

sphuranmälädhäraù sphurita-kaöi-kaupéna-vasanaù | dadhäno dustäraà çirasi phaëiräjaà çaçikaläà pradépaù sarveñäm aruëagiriyogé vijayate ||

Now please close your eyes and meditate on THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM BHAGAWAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAMeshwara Paramashiva & THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM BHAGAWAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAMeshwari Parashakti and exhale into the flower in the Anjali mudra visualizing the visualized deity from our heart entering into the Anjali.

çveta-kamaläsana-sadäçiva-svarüpam ||

Now offer the flower on the Linga chanting the following mantra:

om häà çivamürtaye namaù ||

Now please close your eyes and visualize THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM BHAGAWAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAMeshwara Paramashiva & THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM BHAGAWAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAMeshwari Parashakti in the form of a glittering star twelve inches above your sahasrara and visualize the star entering into your heart through Sahasrara and the star comes out through your exhaling breath and merges into the flower in Anjali mudra and offer the flowers on the Atamalinga and visualize the star landing onto the Atmalinga through the flowers .

Now please chant the following mantra and perform the mudras. ""

Now chanting the mantras that are in the left hand side column, show the mudras that are illustrated in the right hand side column. Show the mudras for the Shiva linga, keeping your hands not below your chest.

Now take a uddharini of Samanyarghyam and show it to the middle of the Shiva Linga and offer in the achamana patram which is in the middle chanting the mantra:

Now take a uddharini of Samanyarghyam and show it to the top of the Shiva Linga and offer in the arghya patram which is on the Northern side chanting the mantra:

The next offering is snānīyaṁ, the Sacred Bath for Paramashiva and Parashakti. Please take water from the samanyarghya patram and offer on the Shiva lingam as you chant the following mantra and please ring the bell as you do so.

The next offering is Vastram – the offering of fresh clothes to Paramashiva & Parashakti. Now please take some akshata (turmeric rice) in your hands and offer it on the Shiva Linga along with the mantra.

The next offering is gandha – the offering of sandalwood paste.

Now please take the sandalwood paste in your right hand ring finger and offer it to the Linga And offer kumkum on the sandalwood paste chanting the mantra

The next offering is aṣṭa puśpa – the offering of flowers to Paramashiva & Parashakti in their various forms. Now please take some flowers your hands and offer the flowers on the Linga along with each mantra.

The next offering is Bilva patram – the offering of bilva leaf. Now please take the Bilva leaf smeared with sandalwood paste in your hands and offer it the Linga along with the mantra.

The next offering is dhūpa – the offering of incense for Paramashiva and Parashakti.

Offer a flower on the bell chanting the following mantra and start ringing the bell with your left hand (Keep ringing the bell until Aratrikam is finished):

om haù asträya namaù

Now sprinkle Samanyarghya tirtham on the Incense stick stand chanting:

om haḥ astrāya phaṭ l

Now offer a flower on the Incense stick stand chanting :

om hāṁ hṛdayāya namaḥ l

Now please take the lit incense sticks in your hands and slowly wave it clockwise in front of the Linga. Please chant the mantra and please ring the bell as you do so.

om dhūrasi dhūrva dhūrvatam yo'smān dhūrvatitam dhūrvayam vayam dhūrvāmastvam devānāmasi sasnitamam papritamam jusṭatamaṁ vahnitamama'nṭtamasi havirdhānaṁ dɪṁhねsva māhvāṁmittasya tvā cakṣuṣā prekṣe mābhermā saṁvikthā mā tvā hiṁsiṣam ||

Now take a uddharini of Samanyarghyam and show it to the middle of the Shiva Linga and offer in the achamana patram which is in the middle chanting the mantra:

The next offering is dīpa – the offering of lit lamp for Paramashiva and Parashakti.

Now sprinkle Samanyarghya tirtham on the deepakkaal chanting: ` h> Aôay )qœ,

om haù asträya phaö |

Now offer a flower on the deepakkaal chanting :

om häà hådayäya namaù |

Now please take the deepam in your hands and slowly wave it clockwise in front of the Linga. Please chant the mantra and please ring the bell as you do so.

The next offering is naivedyam – the offering of food for Paramashiva and Parashakti.

Now sprinkle Samanyarghya tirtham on the naivedyam chanting: ` h> Aôay )qœ,

om haù asträya phaö |

Now offer a flower on the naivedyam chanting :

` ha< ùdyay nm>,

om häà hådayäya namaù |

Now take a uddharini of water and hover it clockwise over the Naivedyam. Please chant the mantra and ring the bell as you do so.

om madhuÞvätä× åtäyaÞte madhu×kñarantiÞ sindha×vaù | mädhvé÷rnassaÞntvoña×dhéù| madhuÞ nakta×muÞtoñasiÞ madhu×maÞtpärthi×vaÞðÞ raja×ù | madhuÞdyaura×stu naù piÞtä | madhu×männoÞ vanaÞspatiÞrmadhu×mäð astu süryaù | mädhvéÞrgävo× bhavantu naù | madhuÞ madhuÞ madhu× |

Now offer the water in front of the Shiva Lingam .

Now take a uddharini of Samanyarghyam and show it to the middle of the Shiva Linga and offer in the achamana patram which is in the middle chanting the mantra:

om häà çiväya svadhä |

Please move the navidhya patram a few cenimeters from it's position.

tämbülam

The next offering is tāmbūlam – the offering of betel leaves with arecanut for Paramashiva and Parashakti.

[ Betel leaves should always be in even number and always be with arecanut ]

Take a uddharini of Samanyarghya tirtham and hover clockwise over the tambulam and offer the tirtham in front of the Shiva Linga chanting the mantra

ārātrikam ॥

The next is ārātrikam – the offering of arati to Paramashiva & Parashakti. Now light the camphor on the karpura arati plate, Now sprinkle Samanyarghya tirtham on the karpura arati plate chanting:

om hah astrāya phaṭ |

Now offer a flower on the karpura arati plate chanting :

याय निर्मः ।

om hāṁ hṛdayāya namaḥ l

Now take the karpura arati and wave towards the Shiva Linga in clockwise motion chanting the mantra:

om somo vā etasya rājyamādatte | yo rājā san rājyo vā somena yajatel deva suvā metāni havimsi | etāvanto vai devānām savāḥ | ta evasmai savān prayacchantil ta enam punassuvante rājyāya | devasū rājā bhavati |

na tatra sūryo bhāti na candratārakam nemā vidyuto bhānti kuto'yamagnih | tameva bhāntamanubhāti sarvam tasya bhāsā sarvamidaṁ vibhāti ||

karpūra-gauram karuņāvatāram samsāra-sāram bhujagendra-hāram |

sadā-vasantam hrdayāravinde bhavam bhavānī-sahitam namāmi ||

Stop ringing the bell, keep the karpur arati plate down. Now take a flower and hover it clockwise over the karpura arati and offer it on the Shiva Linga.

Now take a uddharini of Samanyarghyam and show it to the middle of the Shiva Linga and offer in the achamana patram which is in the middle chanting the mantra:

` ha< izvay Svxa,

om häà çiväya svadhä |

puñpäïjaliù

The next offering is puṣpānjaliḥ – the offering of fragrant flowers for Paramashiva & Parashakti.

Now please take some druva grass, flowers and some akshata in your folded hands (in the Anjali mudra) and offer it on the top Linga at the end of the mantra.

The next offering is mulamantra japa Close your eyes and chant the Mula mantra ` ha< haE< izvay nm>, om häà hauà çiväya namaù |

silently internally without moving the lips and the tongue at least for 11 times. Do the japa neither too slowly nor fast. Do the

japa keeping your full awareness in the sound of the mantra with integrity and authenticity.

Take a flower, durva and akshata in your right hand, chant :

om häà hådayäya namaù

om haià kavacäya huà

om haù asträya phaö

Now keep your hands in the Udbhava mudra and pour some samanyarghya tirtham in your hand and chant :

yiTkiÂt! kmR devez sda suk«tÊ:k«tm!, tNme izvpdSwSy Éu'œúv ]py z»r. izvae data izvae Éae´a izvSsvRimd< jgt!, izvae yjit svRÇ y> izv> sae=hmev tu. yatkiïcit karma deveça sadä sukåtaduñkåtam | tanme çivapadasthasya bhuìkñva kñapaya çaìkara || çivo dätä çivo bhoktä çivassarvamidaà jagat | çivo yajati sarvatra yaù çivaù so'hameva tu ||

om häà hauà çiväya namaù |

Now offer the water on the varada hasta of Shiva ( ie onto the left hand side of Shiva) and offer the flowers also there itself thereby offering the japa and praying for pardon.

Please perform the tattvācamanam as described before in the beginning of Guru Puja.
